A day in Jerusalem

For one day the shock tube stayed quiet: the entire TFML group took a much-awaited break for an educational tour and team-building day in Jerusalem, generously supported by the Zuckerman Foundation.

We started at the Western Wall Heritage Center, the Zuckerman Center, with a tour that included the new excavations beneath the Western Wall Plaza. From there we continued to the City of David and walked along the newly uncovered route that connects the Pool of Siloam with the Western Wall, following a remarkable piece of the city’s history underground.

No lab outing is complete without good food, so we stopped for lunch at Sima and finished the day wandering through Machane Yehuda Market.

The past few years have been intense, and a day like this was long overdue. Beyond the experiments, papers, deadlines and research meetings, a lab is ultimately a group of people, and it was good to spend a full day together outside it.
