We are an experimental group, and most of what we know we learned by building things: shock tubes, index-matched flow loops, camera rigs and the software that runs them. If that sounds like your kind of work, we would like to hear from you.
Who we are looking for
Graduate students. We take M.Sc. and Ph.D. students through the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technion. A background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, physics or a related field is a good starting point. Curiosity about fluid mechanics matters more than prior experience with any particular technique, but hands-on inclination helps: our projects involve designing experiments, operating high-speed imaging systems, and analyzing large data sets in Python or MATLAB. Strong M.Sc. students can move to the direct Ph.D. track.
Postdoctoral fellows. We welcome postdocs with experience in experimental fluid mechanics, compressible flows, multiphase flows, or advanced optical diagnostics such as PIV, particle tracking or schlieren imaging. Candidates with a computational background who want to work closely with experiments are also encouraged to apply. Several fellowship programs at the Technion and in Israel support international postdocs; we are happy to help with applications.
Undergraduate students. Technion undergraduates can join for a research project or as research assistants. It is a good way to find out whether experimental research suits you before committing to a graduate degree.
